Department Summary
The Compliance Technician is part of the Gas Asset Management - System Integrity and Distribution Integrity Management Program. This position is recognized as the subject matter expert that performs the most advanced work, having extensive specialized knowledge of the department, function or discipline area. This position is responsible for the overall compliance of gas leak and leak survey of the company’s gas distribution assets.
Job Description/Responsibilities
“DIMP Leak Management Compliance Technicians are responsible for scheduling, monitoring, and analyzing distribution leak survey as well as all leaks found on the system.
This is done using both paper and digital processes.
Additionally, compliance techs monitor all open gas leaks (above and below ground), assist with non-leak maintenance, and ensure inspections and repairs are in compliance with the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) Gas Code and Consumers Energy standards.
This role requires individuals to perform or establish procedures for technical support functions and actions including records, tracking of information, maintaining logs/spreadsheets, and other similar technical support.
Periodically compliance technicians will evaluate process and program effectiveness and take action to maintain continuous improvement.
At times, reports and technical support materials need to be provided to internal and external stakeholders.
Future compliance technicians should be comfortable with data entry and willing to develop skills in SAP, Inspection Manager, PowerBI, BOBJ, PowerApps, and ArcGIS Online.
It is imperative that compliance techs ensure requests for action or information are relayed to appropriate staff members in a timely manner, using critical thinking skills to determine whether a higher authority should be notified of important or emergency matters.
This team follows all safety rules and procedures, and contributes to the safety of co-workers and the general public.”
Key Responsibilities include:
Review and Validate Leak Survey Schedule and Inspections.
Prepare Leak Survey Maps for the current year’s leak survey and enter leak survey history into Inspection Manager.
Create C1 Notifications for compliance Non-Leak Maintenance and track through repair completion and document in Scheduling and Tracking.
Review Leak Classifications and create Leak Assessment Orders and track in Asset Register.
Manage Leak process using GIS dashboards
Partner with Scheduling and Operations to ensure and Leak Classifications and repairs maintain Compliance.
Manages contractor schedules to ensure all Leak Survey remains compliant.
Testing and process development for IT enhancements and advanced methane detection project.
Perform Quality and Defect analysis for Operations and Compliance.
Use BI reporting to perform basic leak data analysis
Requirements/Qualifications
At least 2 years of applicable experience and a High School diploma or equivalent
Gas distribution/service utility related experience

Knowledge of the Global Leak Process

Hourly Pay Rate Range (dependent on location, experience, expectation)
The pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position is: $28-$38/ per hour
