This is a contract role through Magnit for Consumers Energy. This role is onsite in Jackson, MI.
Department Summary:
- The Instrumentation and Controls Division of the High Voltage Distribution (HVD) Engineering department delivers comprehensive, multi-discipline engineering design and leadership for high-voltage electric distribution projects associated with company-owned and operated substations throughout Michigan's Lower Peninsula.
- The team is responsible for both in-house and consultant-led designs, supporting new substation construction as well as upgrades, repairs, and modifications to existing facilities.
- Key areas of focus include I&C Designs (schematics, wiring, etc), project scoping, AC and DC load studies, procurement and construction support, and overall project execution.
- This position supports capital projects across the service territory.
Responsibilities:
- The position will, in particular, support the role where I&C is tasks as fulfilling the project engineer role. This will include, but not be limited to, creating Construction Scopes of Work (SOW), master document lists (SOW), scheduling and holding 30/60/90 reviews with all design disciplines, leading constructability reviews with the field and supporting the field throughout commissioning as needed. Site visits prior to engineering starting will often be necessary with the field teams. The position, while positioned in I&C, will need to have a broad understanding of other design disciplines functions, but rely on the subject matter experts (SMEs) to fill in any technical gaps.
Qualifications:
- Qualifications for technical engineer positions generally include at least a bachelor's degree in a field that related to the sector in which the company operates.
- Candidates for technical engineer positions also need to have relevant experience, as well as proficiency in basic computer programs such as the Microsoft Office suite.
- Technical engineers should also have excellent analysis, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Work well independently with minimal supervision, as well as in a team setting with other engineers and related colleagues.
- at least a bachelor's degree in a field that related to the sector in which the company operates.
Hourly Pay Rate Range (dependent on location, experience, expectation)
The pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position is: $57 - $71/hr
