This is a contract role through Magnit for Consumers Energy in Jackson, Michigan.
Duties:
- Provide mapping and data services to support Consumers Energy (CE) Forestry operations.
- Collect, manage, and maintain operational data to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
- Develop business processes, mapping applications, and tools that enhance forestry work management.
- Collaborate with CE Forestry and CE Apps & Analytics to design and implement a new work management solution.
- Support existing software platforms during the transition period, ensuring continuity of operations.
- Evaluate current technology solutions and develop a transition plan to move from legacy systems to new platforms.
- Implement both the transition plan and long‑term sustainment plan for new technology solutions.
- Serve as a cross‑functional subject matter expert, troubleshooting complex technical issues and integrating data across systems.
- Create and maintain reports, queries, and data integrations that support operational decision‑making.
- Other tasks as required.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Information Technology, Computer Science, Forestry, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Equivalent experience in GIS, data management, or technical systems support may be considered.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., GIS, data analytics, project management) are a plus.
- Strong understanding of GIS, mapping tools, and spatial data management.
- Experience with data collection, data governance, and workflow design.
- Ability to analyze business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
- Familiarity with work management systems, application development concepts, and system integrations.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Effective communication skills for working with cross‑functional teams and end users.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and support both legacy and emerging technologies during transition periods.
- Knowledge of forestry operations or natural resource management is beneficial but not required.
Hourly Pay Rate Range (dependent on location, experience, expectation):
- The pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position is: $21.36/hour - $28.49/hour.
