This is a contract role through Magnit for Consumers Energy in Jackson, Michigan.

Duties:

• Provide mapping and data services to support Consumers Energy (CE) Forestry operations.
• Collect, manage, and maintain operational data to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
• Develop business processes, mapping applications, and tools that enhance forestry work management.
• Collaborate with CE Forestry and CE Apps & Analytics to design and implement a new work management solution.
• Support existing software platforms during the transition period, ensuring continuity of operations.
• Evaluate current technology solutions and develop a transition plan to move from legacy systems to new platforms.
• Implement both the transition plan and long‑term sustainment plan for new technology solutions.
• Serve as a cross‑functional subject matter expert, troubleshooting complex technical issues and integrating data across systems.
• Create and maintain reports, queries, and data integrations that support operational decision‑making.
• Other tasks as required.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Information Technology, Computer Science, Forestry, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Equivalent experience in GIS, data management, or technical systems support may be considered.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., GIS, data analytics, project management) are a plus.
• Strong understanding of GIS, mapping tools, and spatial data management.
• Experience with data collection, data governance, and workflow design.
• Ability to analyze business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
• Familiarity with work management systems, application development concepts, and system integrations.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
• Effective communication skills for working with cross‑functional teams and end users.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and support both legacy and emerging technologies during transition periods.
• Knowledge of forestry operations or natural resource management is beneficial but not required.

Hourly Pay Rate Range (dependent on location, experience, expectation):

• The pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position is: $21.36/hour - $28.49/hour.
