Description:

This is a contract role through Magnit for Consumers Energy in Jackson, Michigan. The duration of this contract is approximately 7-months. Work Schedule: 40 hours/week with overtime available as needed. Applicants must be at least 50 miles radius from Jackson, MI to be considered.

Responsible for providing data analysis support within LVD Operations for various LVD Leaders including (Sr. Executive Director, Executive Director, Sr. Manager, Manager, Supervisor).  

The Data Analyst II is responsible for analyzing, visualizing, and interpreting data to support informed business and operational decision-making. This role works independently on moderately complex data initiatives and partners with business stakeholders, IT, and analytics teams to develop dashboards, reports, and insights using Power BI and other Consumers Energy data platforms and software solutions.

The Data Analyst II demonstrates strong technical proficiency, data literacy, and the ability to translate data into actionable recommendations. This position requires a solid understanding of data lakes, data modeling concepts, and modern analytics tools.

Duties:

Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Analyze structured and semi‑structured data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that drive business outcomes
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Microsoft Power BI
  • Perform data validation, quality checks, and reconciliation to ensure accuracy and reliability of analytical outputs
  • Document data definitions, assumptions, methodologies, and reporting logic
  • Translate complex data findings into clear, concise, and actionable insights for technical and non‑technical audiences

Business Partnership & Communication:

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and define analytical needs
  • Provide guidance on data availability, metrics, and reporting best practices
  • Support data‑driven decision making through clear storytelling and visualization techniques
  • Participate in cross‑functional analytics projects and continuous improvement initiatives

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, Business Analytics, or a related field
  • 2–4 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related analytics role
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, and dashboard development
  • Ability to read, interpret, analyze, and visualize data using reporting and analytics tools
  • Working knowledge of data lake architectures, data warehouses, and modern data ecosystems
  • Proficiency in SQL or similar query languages for data extraction and analysis
  • Experience working with large, complex datasets from multiple sources
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy and integrity
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience developing enterprise‑level reports and dashboards using Power BI preferred
  • Experience working with cloud‑based or enterprise data lake environments strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Lean Methodology and problem-solving tools

Hourly Pay Rate Range (dependent on location, experience, expectation)

  • The pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position is: $36.09/hour - $48.11/hour W-2.
