This is a contract role through Magnit for Consumer's Energy in Jackson, Michigan. This is a hybrid role with preference for candidates who reside in Lansing or Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The candidate will take ownership of company and product goals, possess strong attention to detail, and work well on a small and dynamic team in an industry that is rapidly evolving. Technical knowledge of electric vehicles and customer obstacles relating to electric vehicles is not required but is expected to be gained quickly while in the role. The Operation, events and Outreach Support will play a crucial role in promoting electric vehicle adoption and awareness within the community. This position involves planning, coordinating, and executing events and outreach activities to educate the public about the benefits of electric vehicles and the PowerMIDrive program. As well as assist with daily operations such as application reviews, customer inquiries and rebate processing.
Responsibilities:
- Organize outreach and educational efforts that optimizes off-peak charging to benefit all customers. This includes, but is not limited to, efforts regarding optimized home charging, the awareness and utilization of public charging infrastructure, and electric fleet deployments
- Develop rapport as a trusted source and positive ambassador for EVs with external and internal stakeholders.
- Lead and organize major customer events such as National Drive Electric Earth Week, National Drive Electric Earth Month, auto shows and events, ride-and-drive contractors, and ribbon cuttings and coordination with the company media and community affairs teams.
- Prioritize requests for presentations and customer engagements with the EV leadership team and support contractors, with a strategic focus on maximizing program outcomes and customer engagement.
- Publicly and persuasively explain the “why” regarding utility load management programs and walk customers through the application processes of our programs and refer them to program leads for additional assistance when needed.
- Collaborate in the development of outreach, marketing, and customer event handouts. Maintain inventory and distribute materials to business partners in preparation for events.
- Assist with development and management of program metrics related to outreach and education, including attendance figures, stakeholder segments, event photos, and a map of outreach activities ensuring coverage across our electric territory for weekly and monthly operating reviews.
- Understand all facets of the current electric vehicle program for customers, including electric utility rates, rebates, and regulatory expectations.
- Communicate program details to customers accurately and professionally.

- Perform miscellaneous special EV assignments in support of the EV programs (e.g., web content development, miscellaneous customer inquiries, evaluate vendor proposals, support requests for regulatory reports and discovery, process improvement opportunities).

Hours and travel:
- Meet travel requirements of the position (up to 25% of time while driving a company or personal EV). Travel outside of the lower peninsula of Michigan is not common.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or related field with four (4) or more years of applicable experience
- [OR] Associate’s degree in marketing, business, or related field with six (6) or more years of applicable experience
[OR] High School Diploma with eight (8) or more years of applicable experience
Hourly Pay Rate Range (dependent on location, experience, expectation)
The pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position is: $27-$34/hr
