This is a contract role through Magnit for Consumers Energy in Jackson, Michigan. This role is hybrid to Jackson, Michigan.

Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Permit Coordinator to support a local utility in Jackson, Michigan. This hybrid role plays a critical part in ensuring timely and accurate tracking of permit requirements across multiple teams. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator with a knack for detail and a drive to keep projects moving forward.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Real Estate and Environmental teams to track and manage permit requirements
• Communicate permit timelines and obligations to Engineering and Construction teams
• Maintain and update tracking tools and spreadsheets to monitor permit status and deadlines
• Proactively follow up with internal and external stakeholders to ensure permit schedules are met
• Identify and escalate potential delays or issues in the permitting process
• Serve as a central point of contact for permit-related inquiries and updates
• Support documentation and reporting needs related to permitting activities

Hybrid Schedule:

On-site: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays

Remote: Most Wednesdays and Fridays

Requirements:

• Collaborative team setting with cross-functional interaction
• No certifications or licenses required
• Strong communication skills—written and verbal
• Familiarity with spreadsheets (Excel or similar tools) and tracking systems
• Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Comfortable “chasing down” requirements and coordinating across departments
• Associates Degree or higher level education. 

Hourly Pay Rate Range (dependent on location, experience, expectation)

The pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position is: $ 40-$50/hr
