This is a contract role through Magnit for a Consumers Energy based in Jackson, Michigan.   This role is onsite.

Primarily responsible for gas distribution system design. The CAD Designer III will design planned projects as approved through the Customer & Service Infrastructure department.  He/she will be expected to interact with engineers for the design state of reliability, relocation, and capacity projects for gas distribution facilities. 

Key Responsibilities in this area include:
• Design gas distribution systems for customer relocation, capacity projects, or reliability improvement projects
• Design in a CAD software, specifically Bentley OpenPlant or MicroStation.
• Track projects in spreadsheets and/or databases
• Create projects and/or orders and order materials in SAP
• Obtaining field notes outdoors, and at times, work in remote areas on uneven terrain and/or in difficult-to-access locations

Requirements:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work as an independent contributor with minimal supervision at the assigned physical work location
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Must be willing to assist with storm and emergency restoration activities and includes both office and field assignments; employees must be willing to work additional hours as necessary to assist with storm restoration activities
  • Must be willing to participate in the on call rotation in case of potential storms; this may include working outside of assigned headquarters to help with storm restoration which may require overnight stays
  • Ability to perform the above-mentioned duties in a safe manner at all times; driving to and from field (including remote) sites is required and the individual must be able to perform this function in all Michigan seasons
   

Experience:
• Experience with electric or gas utility
• Experience with MicroStation. Other valuable experience: AutoCAD, Creo, Catia, SolidWorks, NX. 
• Experience working with SAP

• Preferred, not required: 2-year Associate Degree in the requisite scientific or technical field (48 scientific or technical credit hours as measured on a semester basis); the 48 scientific or technical credit hours can be obtained through colleges, technical institutes, licensed apprenticeship programs, trade schools, military programs, etc. 

Hourly Pay Rate Range (dependent on location, experience, expectation)

The pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position is: $39-$49/hr
