This is a contract role through Magnit for Consumers Energy. This role will be remote with some onsite meetings in Jackson, MI.
Location: This role will be remote, but there will the requirement for field visits and the occasional on-site meeting with the team. On-site meetings will normally be in Jackson, Michigan at the Parnall location.
Responsibilities:
- Primarily responsible for mechanical design associated with gas transmission and distribution facilities.
- The Design Technician II will design planned projects as approved through the Metering & Regulations Controls department.
- He/she will be expected to interact with engineers to produce efficient and high-quality designs for gas facility reliability, relocation, and capacity projects.
- The designer also assists in developing support detail and information documents for various engineering activities and projects as well as supporting material procurement and development of design standards.
Key Responsibilities in this area include:
- Design gas distribution systems for customer relocation, capacity projects, or reliability improvement projects
- Design in a CAD software, specifically Bentley OpenPlant or MicroStation.
- Track projects in spreadsheets and/or databases
- Create projects and/or orders and order materials in SAP
- Obtaining field notes outdoors, and at times, work in remote areas on uneven terrain and/or in difficult-to-access location
Required Skills:
- Design technicians must have advanced computer and applications knowledge.
- Communication skills are important to this role.
- Clear and precise drawings are needed to effectively convey the designs to the operational and construction groups.
- The designs this person provide need to be safe, ergonomic, and practical.
- Drafting experience utilizing MicroStation or AutoCAD, or similar.
Required Education:
- An associate degree in the requisite scientific or technical field. Significant years of relevant design experience may be considered in leu of a technical degree.
Hourly Pay Rate Range (dependent on location, experience, expectation)
The pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position is: $ 34-42/hr
